That ONE Experience

I’ve had the privilege to shoot for ONE Championship since 2017, I must say it had been a bittersweet and eventful experience. Throughout the past 5 years, I have seen many difficulties and controversies along the way. What I like and have shared many times about ONE Championship will always hold true, this is still a superb organization that is deep-rooted in Asian values of integrity, honor, respect, courage, discipline, and compassion like what Mr Chatri Sityodtong had been drilling to everyone in ONE. Afterall, this is by far Asia’s largest billion-dollar global sports media platform.

Come ONE-X, a highly anticipated event to celebrate ONE’s 10th year anniversary! The fight card would be packed with the most World Champions in various martial arts disciplines. The card is stacked with notable names such as Demetrious Johnson, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Angela Lee, Stamp Fairtex, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, John Wayne Parr and Yoshihiro Akiyama just to name a few. - Some of them were my all-time favorite. It is also the largest event Singapore would have since the pandemic occurrence. The world was excited and pumped for ONE-X and it sure delivered everything that was promised! It was an event that will go down in history as one of the greatest in this industry for many years to come.

This time, I had access to various interesting areas such as the newsroom, post-fight, cage-side and as well as various athletes' resting area. Frankly, shooting for ONE for the past few years had got me a little dry and very used to the event flow and how the itinerary would be like. This round, either than the standard needed shots – I went in with the mentality of capturing ‘moments’ or ‘emotions’ in time. This was like a hidden agenda I had shooting for all three pre-fight events leading up to the actual and of course the actual fight day inclusive. I have accomplished what I had intended for this four-day shoot, and it will go down as one of my most memorable shoots definitely. To top it off, I made a few new friends along the way as well.
